A PRAGMATIC ANALYSIS OF TEXT USED IN T-SHIRT.

The research belongs to a descriptive qualitative research. The objectives of this research are to classify the types of sentence and to describe the presupposition of English text used in T-shirt. This research applies qualitative research. The data of this research are sentence found in English text used in T-shirt. From the data collected, the researcher founds 31 data of English text taken from T-shirt. The data are collected by using observation and document content analysis. The collected data are analyzed by using linguistic form based on the types of sentence and pragmatic theory which focused on presupposition. The results of the research show that the types of sentence are divided into three classifications. They are interrogative sentences, imperative sentences, and declarative sentences. It is one data or 3, 2% in interrogative sentences; they are 6 data or 19, 4% in imperative sentences, and 24 data or 77, 4% in declarative sentences. Secondly, the presupposition of English text used in T-shirt can be described by related to the literal words with the speaker assumption of the utterance to get the possible context of the utterance. In short, the speakers presuppose the utterances well s/he knows well about the topics being stated.
