EXPRESSION OF ANGER UTTERED BY CHARACTERS IN DRAMA MANUSCRIPTS (PRAGMATICS APPROACH).

This research paper is aimed at describing the implicature of anger expression and politeness patterns of anger expression. The research is limited in conversations referred to the script. In this research, the writer uses a descriptive qualitative method includes reading, identifying, selecting, classifying, analyzing and drawing conclusions. In clarifying the implicature of anger expression uttered, the writer uses speech context proposed by Nunan and also Grice’s cooperative principle which involves maxim of Quality and Clarity. The writer uses Face Threatening Act s (FTA) which involves baldly on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, doing an FTA, and do not do the FTA “off” the record” the describe the politeness pattern. The writer concludes that the implicature found in the drama manuscript are command, request, suggest, offer, assert, promise warn and threaten in fulfill all maxim, and anger expression utterance violates maxim quality in assert and threaten and violate maxim of clarity in request, warn, and threaten. The politeness patterns mostly used by the character are positive politeness and doing an FTA. It shows that the anger expressions are mostly uttered by the character in the script by any dropping hunts where they are in groups or friends.
